We’re proud to announce that our Espresso Sabra v.5 has qualified to compete in the America’s Best Espresso Eastern Championship at Coffee Fest NYC on March 8-10! Representing Alabaster will be our barista Jesse Darrow. We were one of 24 cafes that qualified to present their espresso.

Competitors will go head to head in a winner move on, loser go home tournament competition. The competition will continue in this fashion all the way down to the sweet 16 on Saturday and then the final four and championship final Sunday.

For the competition, baristas will have six minutes on Friday and ten minutes on Saturday and Sunday to prepare one espresso that will be submitted to the judging table of three carefully selected judges. Judges will be chosen from the field of Baristas competing in the Latte Art World Championship Open. Judges will evaluate the shots of espresso from each competitor in the categories of:
1) Flavor Complexity
2) Mouthfeel & Appeal
3) Aftertaste

We’re excited & honored to qualify for this event!

We’re proud to introduce our newest coffee offering, Burundi Kayanza!

Burundi is a small landlocked African nation. With a population of about 8 million people, approximately 90% of the population relies on farming as their primary source of income. Coffee is by far the largest export of the country, which has been rebuilding following a 12 year civil war that ended in 2005.

It’s a delightfully comfortable cup of coffee. We taste notes of gingerbread, brown sugar, and tangerine, with a lingering finish.

The Specs:
Region: Kayanza
Altitude: 1950m
Varietal: Bourbon
Process: Fully washed + sun dried
